The Governance Statistics division is responsible for meeting the growing demand for reliable and timely statistics on various indicators such as crime, justice, participation and other relevant indicators that promote good governance. Domestically, policymakers rely on these statistics to guide decision-making, assess governance performance, and track the implementation of national development goals. International partners also utilize governance statistics to design evidence-based programmes, establish baselines, and monitor the effectiveness of their interventions.
The division’s work is organized around eight core dimensions: safety and security, access to justice, non-discrimination and equality, public and political participation, access to information, responsiveness, absence of corruption and public trust.
Strategic Objectives
- Strengthen statistical coordination and management in the area of governance statistics.
- Improve the production, coverage and quality of governance statistics.
