Policy, Planning and Coordination Directorate
The Directorate of Policy, Planning and Coordination Services is a core functional Directorate of the Somalia National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS). It is entrusted with providing strategic leadership in policy development, planning, and coordination. It provides oversight in program and policy implementation to ensure effectiveness and alignment with targeted national goals. As the hub for interinstitutional synergy, the Directorate facilitates effective coordination among internal departments, FMS, line ministries, development partners, academia, and other stakeholders to strengthen administrative data collection and ensure alignment with national development goals and international statistical standards.
The Directorate is also the national focal point for reporting on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It ensures the timely collection, validation and dissemination of relevant data that tracks Somalia’s progress toward the 2030 Agenda. In addition, the Directorate has a dedicated mandate to collect, analyze and disseminate governance statistics, covering data on crime, justice, political participation and other indicators that support transparency, rule of law and good governance.
