The Federal Government of Somalia (FGS), through the Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS), has received a grant from the International Development Association (IDA) to implement the Somali Integrated Statistics and Economic Capacity Building (SISEPCB) Project. The project aims at strengthening the national statistics system, the national monitoring and evaluation (M&E) system and improving programming and analytical capacity of the government’s macroeconomics and fiscal programming agencies to enable them to regularly access analyze and improve their public policies and programs performance and results. More specifically, the project aims at: (1) Strengthening the national statistics system; (2) Strengthening monitoring and evaluation capacity; and (3) Building economic policy analysis and economic planning capacity.
The primary objective of this position is to coordinate and manage the PPI price data collection process, ensure field data quality, maintain updated samples and product specifications, and provide validated monthly datasets for PPI index compilation. To ensure reliable and continuous producer price measurement, SNBS seeks a qualified PPI Data Analyst and Price Collection Specialist to manage price data collection activities, validate incoming datasets, and provide high-quality inputs for PPI compilation. The selection shall be based on the qualifications, experience and skills of the candidate and followed by an interview. The qualifications, experience and competencies include:
- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in price data collection or economic field data work.
- Knowledge of price statistics and enterprise survey methods.
- Experience with digital data collection tools.
- Proficiency in statistical software such as NADABAS, STATA, R, or SAS.
The Specialist will report to the Director of Macroeconomic and Financial Statistics and will work closely with the Prices and Economic Indicators Unit and regional data collection teams.
The assignment is estimated to last 12 Months.
