This Law repeals the Somalia Statistical Law no: 35 published on 18th June 1970 to harmonize it with the Somali Federal System and promote the overall efficiency of various Sectors of Statistics in the Federal Republic of Somalia (FRS).

This Law establishes the Somali National Bureau of Statistics (SNBS) which is mandated to conduct collection, compilation, coordination, analysis, evaluation and dissemination of National Statistical Information.
