The SDSP aims to strengthen the National Statistical System (NSS) by enhancing the capacity to produce and disseminate reliable statistical information that informs evidence-based policy formulation, planning, and decision-making across all levels of government. To achieve this overarching goal, the project delivers technical support in three key areas. First, it supports institutional building and statistical operations while also promoting coordination and advocacy for the national statistical system. Second, it focuses on building the technical capacity of staff through a combination of short- and long-term training programs. Third, it supports the development of functional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure to facilitate the production, management, and dissemination of statistical information for both the Federal government and the beneficiary Federal Member States (FMS), which include Jubaland, Hirshabelle, and Galmudug. The project is structured around four mutually reinforcing components. These include institutional building, training and statistics production, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and project management. These components cumulatively form a comprehensive framework to support the modernisation and sustainability of Somalia’s statistical ecosystem.
